John Plate led us in prayer:
"Heavenly father, Thank You for bringing us together again today to do the work of Rotary and for fellowship. Please bless our club's leaders as they guide us through these difficult times. Please bless this food to our needs and us to your service. Keep us always mindful of people all over the world who are .

Program:
Our guest speaker was Jason Brisbois of Northshore Health Services.
The North Shore Health Project was founded in 1988 by a group of men and women from Gloucester and Rockport, Massachusetts, who were concerned about the lack of available services for people affected by HIV and AIDS. The North Shore Health Project provides a variety of holistic services, as an adjunct to primary care, in addition to an array of support services. Since 2003 the Health Project has provided a full array of services to all those living with Hepatitis C.
Although it has been providing free care for over 20 years, The Project has retained a grass-roots character. Volunteer health care practitioners provide all holistic services, joined by a small army of other volunteers who assist with the day-to-day operation of the agency.
Jason informed us that it can take many years, 10, 20 even up to 30 years to get symptoms from Hepatitis C. Some of the symptoms are Fatigue, body pain, and pain on the liver. It almost feels like a mild flu in the beginning.
75% of people don't know they have it.
-Hep C is a blood to blood transmission.
-Hep C is the number 1 cause for liver transplants and liver cancer
There is a treatment similar to Chemo Therapy but there is only a 50/50 chance the treatment will work.
There are vaccine's for Hep A & B, but not for Hep C.
Jason suggested that anyone who was in the military or medical field should be tested.
A strong membership is so important to the overall success of any organization. Growth and retention have to be in the spotlight constantly. As membership chair I have been charged with heading the largest committee in the Club...each and everyone of us. Collectively we can make TBM stronger, more involved in the communities we serve and fun.
When was the last time you asked a friend, a neighbor or business associate to come to a TBM meeting? I admit, it's been a while since I put out an invitation and I have a goal to find one person to join our ranks during this Rotary year.
I ask everyone to please share your thoughts and ideas as to how we can grow the ranks of TBM.
