If you missed today's meeting, you have until September 30, 2009 to complete a makeup.

where our members have made up recently.
Don't forget, President Jeff Kruck has requested all members to Make-Up a meeting by attending a meeting at another Rotary Club. Members are also requested to bring some insight back to TBM for discussion.
Be sure to get a "Make-Up Card" from the secretary of the club where you make up.
If you're not sure if you fulfilled the Make-Up request made by President Jeff, check the list above. A missing name means you have not Made-Up or have not informed the TBM secretary.
This is also a good place for the Sergeant at Arms to look if enforcement becomes necessary!

Fines and Happy Dollars:
SAA Peter McAllister passed around Sebastian today. This is Spencer's cousin. Spencer will be back next week. I think he was on vacation...it's not like he was misplaced or anything.
Joanne Travers gave a happy dollar that she finally got a couple of missions lined up for November.
Gretchen Marks gave a happy $5 bill, she has gotten $600 in donations for the upcoming Road Race.
Bernie Creden put in a couple of sad dollars. It was announced today that the Village Reporter is ceasing publication.
Jan Sinclair shared a joke about a fisherman with the group today: "There is a jerk on one end of the line waiting for a jerk on the other end of the line." Got a good laugh out of the crowd today
Getting To Know You:
Brad Swanson and Oscar Padjen were talking about a documentary on National Parks that had been on TV recently. Bob Murphy seemed to be very interested. Hopefully he'll catch an episode.
I got a great picture of Bob Murphy and President Jeff today. I told Bob I'd be auctioning off the picture to the highest bidder. Bob didn't think it would be very profitable. I think we should prove him wrong. Who wouldn't want a picture of Bob & Jeff to put on their Mantel! We could donate the proceeds to the road race...any takers
Their was some discussion today about when Bob M graduated high school and the blizzard of '78, I was not around for either. That's all I'm saying. I don't want to upset Bob any further.
Program:
President Jeff welcomed Assistant Governor Peggy Pedro. Peggy works for North shore bank in Peabody and lives in Pelham, NH. Peggy joined rotary in 2002. This Is her third year as Assistant Governor.
Peggy introduced District Governor Elect Stephen O. May. Stephen has been elected district governor for 2010-2011. Stephen is a Marine Viet Nam veteran and also has 32 years of experience in law enforcement.
Steve joined the rotary club of North Reading in 2003 and was immediately appointed to the board of directors. He was club president in 2006-2007.He completed the Rotary Leadership Institute training and was appointed Assistant Governor. He was awarded the Governor's Citation for District 7930 and a district services award.
Steve introduced District governor Ingrid Brown (2009-2010).
Ingrid was born in PA and grew up oversees as the child of a diplomat. After a few career changes she ended up in Rockport, Ma. She joined the Rockport Rotary Club in 1996. She served as president in 2003-2004. She completed the Rotary Leadership Institute in 2003. She served three years as an Assistant Governor, was the outbound GSE coordinator for four years and was the District Member Chair for 2008-2009.
Ingrid informed us they are looking for a 2012-2013 District Governor. The only requirement is that you must be a club past president.
Harry Martin's name was mentioned for a nomination for this position. The district governor commented on what a great job Harry does as foundation chair. "Harry is Mr. Foundation."
She went over this years goals of Rotary International President John Kenny.
He had three areas he wanted to focus on
Water
Health & Hunger
Literacy
Membership is also a goal. Every club has annual goal on netting 1 new member. Retention is also important. And it is important to mentor new members and encourage all members to be involved in club activities.
She encourages everyone to attend the District Conference on May 21-23, 2010 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport/Camden ME. This is a family friendly weekend. "Let's show the youth what rotary is about."
She ended by stating "The future of rotary is in your hands."
Membership Moment:
A strong membership is so important to the overall success of any organization. Growth and retention have to be in the spotlight constantly. As membership chair I have been charged with heading the largest committee in the Club...each and everyone of us. Collectively we can make TBM stronger, more involved in the communities we serve and fun.
When was the last time you asked a friend, a neighbor or business associate to come to a TBM meeting? I admit, it's been a while since I put out an invitation and I have a goal to find one person to join our ranks during this Rotary year.
I ask everyone to please share your thoughts and ideas as to how we can grow the ranks of TBM.
