Rotarians O'er the World, You Lead the Way!
Commissioned to commemorate the visit of Donna Jean Wayman, Rotary International District Governor, District 7930, to the Topsfield, Boxford and Middleton Rotary Club, Massachusetts, USA, on September 6, 2006.
|
President John brought the meeting to order and Joe Carroll provided blessing. Be thankful for all that you have in life.
Visiting Rotarians and Guests:
Carl Melander, Assistant Governor visited us today as did past TBM member Derek Scialdone
Make Ups:
There were no make up cards today.
If you missed today's meeting, you have until March 14, 2007 to complete a makeup.
Fines and Happy Dollars:
Happy dollars were collected by Sergeant at Arms Jeff Kruck with Peter McAllister gleefully at his side with a roll of tickets.
- Harry Martin announced that today is the last day for extra credit for Foundation donations.
- Joe Long was happy for the end of February vacation.
- Eden Hutt, aka Franz Klamer, told of his downhill skiing experience at the Matterhorne in Bradford. Seems the good doctor was in the middle of a lesson with Helga von Trapp when he did a Wide World of Sports wipe out. Thankful he survived the fall and while thinking, "I'm glad my son didn't see me do that". From high above on the ski lift he heard, "Hey dad I saw that!" Eden had a sad dollar to and announced the passing of Helen Thompson.
- Joanne Travers had a happy dollar as her husband Paul is on the mend from a skiing incident and it's her birthday, kind of, as February 29th doesn't come again til next year.
- Harry Martin had a funny Ed and Helen Thompson story. Seems the couple had an auto accident in front of the Topsfield Common many years ago. Trouble was, it was with each other.
- Bob Was spread the cheer about recent economic news but is happy for his feet hitting the ground this morning.
- Denver Wallace was happy Eden made it back to Topsfield in one piece.
- Bob Courtlangus was happy to be here.
- Bob Murphy found his last dollar in his wallet and is happy February vacation is over.
- Peter McAllister is happy for his ski trip to Montana where Kevin showed him how nice it is to be a kid.
- Bernie Creedon had happy dollars.
- Linda Parker was happy.
- Carl Melander provided Spencer with some cash and mentioned that McAllister Scientific was named after Peter McAllister's dad.
- Bob Luscinski tried his luck with additional tickets.
- We were all happy about the cookies supplied by Barbara. In fact, Harry added a whole new meaning to the term "deleting cookies".
Raffle:
The pot finally fell today as Jan Sinclair won finally. Congratulations Jan with the $12 you get take Gary to lunch at Wendy's. (wink wink)
Announcements

Program:
Today's fill in speaker was Joe Long who spoke about the Wide World of Mortgage finance.
Agreeing with Jeff Kruck's real estate presentation 3 weeks ago, use professionals. Have a real estate expert, a mortgage lender, an accounting expert, a financial planner, an estate attorney, a property casuality insurance agent and a life insurance specialist in your life. The advice these people can give you can be priceless. Did you know, paying off your mortgage may not be the best thing for you to do? The equity in your home earns no rate of return, zero, zip, nadda.
Reverse mortgages for seniors 62 and older can be valuable planning tools to utilize. A reverse frees up equity, enabling the senior to stay in their home for the rest of their lives. Seniors can use the money for supplementing income, paying real estate taxes and home insurance, paying for home health care, home improvements, long term health care insurance, funding life insurance policies as part of an estate plan or any other reason they see fit.
If you have questions regarding anything to do with mortgage finance please feel free to ask Joe, 978 360-2793.
