The Tri-Town RotaNews - January 10, 2007

Rotarians O'er the World, You Lead the Way!

Commissioned to commemorate the visit of Donna Jean Wayman, Rotary International District Governor, District 7930, to the Topsfield, Boxford and Middleton Rotary Club, Massachusetts, USA, on September 6, 2006.

President John rang the bell at 12:15 MST and Joe Carroll asked that we listen to tonight's speech and be fair in what you think.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Rev. Ken Steigler from the Salem Club joined us today. Today's speaker was Michael Stare.

Make Ups:

There were no make up cards today.

If you missed today's meeting, you have until January 24, 2007 to complete a makeup.

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Jeff Kruck took Spencer for a spin and played the Sergeant at Arms.

Today's special surprise was the pedaling of additional raffle tickets offered up by President John.

  • Bob Courtlangus was confident that he'd win.

  • Janet Larson was happy for selling 6 tickets so far for the comedy night.

  • Peter McAllister let out a "Happy, happy, joy, joy"

  • Linda Parker was happy to be heading off to Maine to spoil her grand child.

  • Joanne Travers was happy for spending the weekend teaching 5 Dominicans how to ski. They'd never seen snow before, welcome to New England, you ain't seen nothing yet.

  • Harry Martin was happy for the blood drive. Reminder, $2 (per week) id's the bare minimum to get onto the Sustaining Member list.

  • Ira Singer was happy that Joanne Travers may have played an integral role in the devolvement of the Dominican Ski Team for the winter Olympics.

  • Al Craig was happy but was nearly attacked for getting change.

  • Oscar Padjen was happy for the gators win.

  • Bernie Creedon was happy for the latest meeting of the k-12 umbrella at which over 500 were in attendance. Author of "Raising Cain" Michael Thompson spoke to the attendees.

  • Bob Murphy had some happy dollars too but I could hear why he was giggling so much Barbara became concerned.

  • Bob Was told of his happy year at two of his kids were married and number three isn't far behind.

Raffle:

The Queen of Hearts lost her peer the Queen of Diamonds this week. No lucky winners today even with the added sales and the pot was safe until next week. FYI the total is $390 and there are 12 cards to go.
