| Harry Martin posted a Rotarical question.
Who is that guy? The member, who should know, doesn't and will be fined accordingly and incrementally as time marches on. President Peter put it this way "The longer you wait my Rotarian friend the more you owe Spencer"...stay tuned.
The tree at the right carries his name.
He was a personal friend of Paul Harris who might have called him Sir.
If you think you know the answer, send an e-mail to Harry who will verify it for you. |

Our mystery Rotarian wrote:
"I have been a pretty constant visitor to the White House for twenty years. I have met
all the Presidents during that period and have had unique opportunities for forming first- hand
impressions of the illustrious American statesmen who have ruled the destinies of the States from
Theodore Roosevelt down to the present occupant of the presidential chair. With more than one
of these remarkable men I am proud to say I have been on terms of friendship.
Mystery Rotarian and Golf:
- He was hired as a caddy at the Musselburgh Golf Course, a job he enjoyed very much.
- He had taken tea or played golf with Presidents Wilson, Roosevelt, Taft, Harding and Coolidge.
- A golf course carries his name.
Subject - Golf
Program:
Chiaki Yamada spoke to the Club today about life in Japan. Did you know Japan is approximately the size of Montana yet supports over 127 million people? She is studying infrastructure management and policy at the Kennedy School, Harvard University. Chiaki is on of Rotary's Ambassadorial Scholars.
Chiaki told us about traditional Japanese foods and also popular dishes that have Western influence. She gave travel tips for those planning to visit her country. Watch out for automatic taxi doors, no tipping, pour your friends drink and they pour yours.
Chiaki told of one of her first culture shock experiences from watching Pat Sajac on Wheel of Fortune. A guest showed outward displays of affection for his family. This is something she had never experienced before as traditionally in Japan no such displays are given. If anything they talk down their own family in praise to others.
Did you know Montana is the USA's forth largest state?
The Tri-Town RotaNews - May 31, 2006
President Peter McAllister brought the meeting to order and Joe Carroll provided the blessing.

Program:
Bob Was introduced our speaker, JoAnn Cohen, a P.R. Associate with the Better Business Bureau which is located in Natick, MA. JoAnn stated that the BBB has a data base of 90,000 companies, 7,000 of which are members. The BBB does research the complaints it receives on companies; 5% of the complaints received do get deleted. The most common complaints are billing issues and also home repair. Mostly, the customer just wants an apology from the company.
The BBB's audience consist of a wide range of ages and demographics. The BBB is funded solely on membership dues and the benefit of being a BBB member consists of using the BBB Logo and gaining more confidence with the American public.
JoAnn briefly spoke about identity theft and that just 10% nowadays originates online; also different now, Senior citizens are among the smallest groups victimized by identity theft.
