Announcements:

Golf Tourney June 12th.

President Peter had a few announcements:

  • The Topsfield Expo will be held on April 8 at the Proctor School. Janet Larson, Bernie Creedon and Jeff Kruck have already offered to help out on the day. The event provides great exposure to the people of Topsfield for the attendees. Let's show them what we're all about.

  • The Burlington Breakfast Club will be holding a Charter celebration at Café Escadrille on March 20th. Call the good Doctor for details.

  • Are you ready for one of our biggest fundraisers of the year? The 7th annual TBM Rotary Golf Tournament will be held this year at the Ipswich Country Club at 7:30 AM on June 12th. The day will be sunny with a slight breeze out of the west with no humidity. Golfers will enjoy a continental breakfast, use of the driving range and a fun filled day on of the premier golf courses in Massachusetts. Following lunch will hold our silent auction. Do you have a friend who would like to play or donate to a great cause? Let's make this years event the biggest ever! Cost to play is a bargain at $150.00. Sponsors are being sought with their proceeds going to the TBM Rotary Foundation. Stand by for details.

  • RYLA interviews have been conducted and it likes like 2 students from Masco will be attending. NS Tech interviews are set for Friday March 31 at 9 AM. Anyone interested in helping out please contact Todd Darling. The goal is to send five students to this year's program.

Program:

Today's lunch at the Scholars Den was prepared and served by the students as the NSCC. Loreen Turrell proudly oversees the operation of the restaurant and instructs the kids in how do everything restaurant related.

Loreen introduced two of her prize students, Dolly and Pete.

Dolly was the head chef for the day and was responsible for everything from start to finish of the meal. Loreen sadly said that she'll be graduating this year but is hopeful Dolly will further her education and possibly instruct at the school. These kids are great and they have competed in competitions with students from much larger and well-known schools quite frankly holding their own. Dolly had the opportunity to help out famed TV chef martin Yan of Yan can cook. He was so impressed with the efforts put forth by Dolly and the others he has asked them and the school back for future events Think about making your contribution early this year, make a difference.

Pete is a career-changing adult who traveled to the school from Georgia. Once he completes his courses he most likely will return to the South to be=gin his career in cooking. He current works as a chef at the Essex County Country Club in Manchester. Pete can't speak highly enough about the program at NSCC.

Loreen uses her protégées well and has them assist her in recruiting aspiring chefs from local area high schools. Feel free to stop in again for lunch at the Scholars Den.
