The Tri-Town RotaNews - November 30, 2005

President Peter rang the bell and Joe Carroll provided the blessing giving thanks for our involvement in Rotary and how that involvement gives us the opportunity to impact lives in all 170 countries around the world.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Dave Drislane, PDG from the Lynnfield Club visited TBM today. Dave's visit was extra special today as he was also our speaker.

Make Ups:

Harry Martin made up at the on November 18

Oscar Padjen made up at on November 21

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Happy dollars were collected SAA Dave Bunker.

  • Joe Long gave a fiver for being amongst the missing recently and was happy about his son's success at the plate last night. 3 for 4 and a great play at third on a hard hit grounder.

  • Oscar Padjen made a deposit.

  • Jim Fitzgerald was happy for the Masco football team's success this year; they have a lot to be proud of.

  • Peter McAllister is once again happy.

  • Janet Larson was happy for a Thanksgiving without a burnt turkey, happy for visiting family and happy they went home!

  • Ira Singer was happy for the Middleton's annual report honoring none other than Bob Murphy.

  • Joe Carroll gave up some cabbage.

  • Bob Was was happy about the Chorale coming to visit and sing on the 14th of December. How many will attend? Please let Peter know ASAP. Hors'duerves and dinner will be served.

  • Gary Sinclair, injured as he was, was able to single handedly get to his wallet and remove dollars. Thoughts for Dave Twitchell and another for himself.

  • Jan Sinclair was happy for her week, alone with siblings, in the Lone Star State. Seems Jan, after having such a great time, is now trying to convince Gary that Texas is the place to be.

  • Harry Martin deposited $10 for his travels to Saint John and Saint Croix. Harry spent Thanksgiving with his daughter and 20 of her friends, eating T-day dinner in the rain, protected by sails brought by one of the guests.

  • John Plate challenged the Club to sponsor another wheelchair or more in honor of last year's efforts.

  • Dave Bunker made a contribution for his exuberance for his son who recently was named to the national Honor Society and was named "All League" for his football heroics.

Raffle:

Gretchen Marks and Dave Bunker could not find the 4 of hearts and the pot grows.

Announcements:

  • President Pierre read thank you's for the Club's donations for Thanksgiving.

    Thanksgiving Baskets Ready for Distribution

  • Gary Sinclair read a thank you letter from one of the families we helped during the Thanksgiving holiday. 6 families were given the full treatment for Thanksgiving dinner. Gretchen Marks did a great job organizing the efforts and putting much love and attention into the individual baskets! Thank you Jan Sinclair too!

  • Peter McAllister announced that the Christmas party will be December 3rd at 7:00PM at 4 Mile Village. We have 14 confirmed to date. Pot luck dinner will be served.

  • Jan Sinclair announced that Joan Murphy at TTC asked that we consider sponsoring dinner at Christmas too. Interested in helping by sponsoring a family? Contact Jan ASAP.

  • Gretchen announced that next week we will be decorating 60 poinsettia plants. The plants are to be distributed to seniors being served by "Meals on Wheels" Dave Bunker will deliver the Topsfield Plants, Bob Was will drop off the Boxford plants and Bob Murphy will drop off the Middleton collection. Someone call the Topsfield COA and make sure Dave stays away from the brownies that go out with the meals.

  • December 6, 6:30 PM, at the Lawrence Regional Vocational High School, the district will be sponsoring a training program for those interested in Literacy Training.

  • Ira Singer had a concerned announcement that Dave Twitchell had a spell yesterday and is in the hospital. Ira did speak with Dave and said he's as upbeat and positive as ever. All the best David! Get back soon.

  • Harry Martin made a special presentation of a PHF+1 Recognition to John Plate. Thank you John for playing "The Game". Want to play yourself? Contact Harry and he'll help you with the rules. Try it, it's fun and it does so much good around the world.

Program:

We enjoyed a special treat today with the Dave Drislane and his presentation of some of his photo works of birds. Dave loves his hobby and competes in amateur photographic contests. Natural history photography is his passion and it truly shows through his work. Thanks for sharing with us Dave!
