It still needs to be finished, but the walls are up, the rooms are partitioned and the roof is on. This allowed us to begin seeing patients.

The Tri-Town RotaNews - July 20, 2005

President Peter rang the bell when he felt like it and Joe Carroll, I am assuming provided the blessing. Yes, I was late, but despite the heat I arrived shortly after Peter got things into motion.

How did I get hooked up with this bunch?

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

There were no visitors or guests today.

Make Ups:

There were no make up cards received today.

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Happy dollars were collected by SAA Dave Bunker.

Dave asks no quarter and gives none . . .!
Do we see a trend here?
  • Eden Hut made a deposit because he is just so darn happy about his hair.

  • Joe Long was fined for tardiness.

  • Oscar Padjen offered up a buck for a repeat of Peter's punch line. It's "fsh".

  • John Plate was happy to present Dave with the "whistle".

  • Gretchen Marks announced the NELO concert tonight. The New England Light Opera performs at the Congregational Church in Topsfield. Thank you Gretchen too for the pictures from our comedy night.

  • Gretchen and Frank are hosting a cruise on Boston harbor, August 18th. Cost is $25 a person and any cash left over after the food expense will be given back to the members Club as a donation to that clubs general fund. What more can you ask for, great company, a relaxing atmosphere on the water and a fund raiser for the Club. Please let Gretchen know ASAP so that she can make arrangements.

  • Bill Shannon quizzed the starry eye Dave Bunker asking "what is Spencer's last name?" and offered up a $5 fine if he answered correctly. Dave did and Bill paid.

Raffle:

The 4 of hearts is the new target according to Peter. The card eluded both Joe Carroll and John Plate drew a joker which cost Peter a 5 spot.

Program:

Instead of a full blown program at today's meeting, we spent some more quality Fellowship time together.

And, I am sorry to say, especially to those of you who missed the comedy night this past winter, you missed our lunch version of comedy night as Peter, Harry and John did their own material, some of which I am sure was borrowed. A lot of laughs and chuckles. Great meeting everyone!

Mystery Rotarian:   =>

If you missed todays meeting, and you think you know the name of the Mystery Rotarian, write it on an appropriate denomination of paper currency and bring it to SAA Dave at the next meeting.

Announcements:

  • President Peter announced that the Lincoln-Woodstock NH Rotary Club is raffling off a Corvette. Tickets are $150 and they're selling just 500 tickets. Can't you just see Peter cruising through Topsfield Center with the top down?

  • The Peabody Club has invited clubs around the NS to their meeting on Tuesday, August 2nd as they will have "Friends Forever" visitors from Israel and Palestine.

  • Oscar, Gretchen and Bill were recognized for their 100% attendance status. When asked "what do you gain for making 100%?" all three responded with commitment to the ideal of Rotary. The experience one gains from making up at other clubs is phenomenal as well. Long lasting relationships, a chance to see Rotary in action in other parts of the state, country and the world make the effort worthwhile.

Oscar gets the room's attention as he discusses his experiences in Rotary.

  • Harry Martin again announced that anyone making a Sustaining Member Contribution before the end of July will be credited with an extra 100 points towards their next PHF.

  • A Membership 101 meeting will be held August 3rd at the Danversport yacht Club to be followed by a BBQ

Upcoming Programs:

August 3: PDG Dave Drislane and Harry Martin - The Rotary Foundation and you.

Rotary Theme 2005-2006

Membership News:

  • Harry passed out Sustaining Member "report cards", thanking all for their support of The Rotary Foundation. If there are any questions, please see Harry.

Webmaster's Notes:

Until next week everyone keep cool.
