It still needs to be finished, but the walls are up, the rooms are partitioned and the roof is on. This allowed us to begin seeing patients.

The Tri-Town RotaNews - June 29, 2005

President Linda rang the bell for her final meeting as president.
Were those tears of saddness or of joy?

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Stephen Ives from the Lawrence Club visited today. We had no guests.

Make Ups:

Since the last RotaNews edition, the following members visited other clubs:

Gretchen Marks made up at on June 8

Gary Sinclair made up at the Leadership Seminar on June 14

Jan and Gary Sinclair made up at on June 28

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Sergeant at Arms John collected $$ from nearly everyone including $5 from President Linda to express her joy about handing over the gavel to the next president.

Raffle:

Extra money was collected for the raffle as there were only five cards left in the deck. Unbelievably, neither Bob Was nor Janet Larson chose the lucky 8 of clubs, so next week there will be only three cards left!

Program:

President Linda presented awards to Jan, Bill, Peter, Gary, Ira, Joanne, Bob M., John, Oscar, and Harry, thanking one and all for their contributions to the welfare of the club. Jan and Oscar were recognized for 100% attendance for the year. That’s nothing new for Oscar as he’s had 100% attendance since 1963!

President Linda also presented incoming President-elect Peter with a Rotary clock, wishing him good luck in his upcoming year.

After our new President, Peter McAllister received the gavel from Immediate Past President Linda, he presented her with a Rotary plaque, and pin and pen.

His next official action was to welcome Harry to the podium… not a wise move if he hoped to regain control of the meeting!

Harry announced that our club had once again attained 100% Sustaining Member contributions! Congratulations to each and every club member! Harry presented Janet Larson with her red wings signifying her participation as a Sustaining Member. He also presented Peter McAllister with his Paul Harris Fellow +1 Recognition pin.

In due time, President Peter was able to wrestle Harry away from the podium at which time he thanked the club for the opportunity to serve as the 2005-2006 club president and promised to invigorate the club with enthusiasm, laughter and hard work over the next year. One priority is to increase the visibility of our club in the community.

President Peter, along with other Presidents and District officers, will be formally inaugurated tomorrow evening at the Danversport Yacht Club.

Announcements:

  • President Peter reminded board members that they will meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 11 AM, prior to the club meeting.

  • Note: Starting on July 6, 2005, lunches will cost $13, raffle tickets $2, for a total of $15 per lunch.

  • Our $50 dues should be paid to Treasurer Bill at your earliest convenience… While writing your check, why not write a second check to the Rotary Foundation for $100 to cover next year’s sustaining membership contribution?

Upcoming Programs:

TBA

Calendar:

July 1: The new Rotary year (2005-2006) begins.
