The Tri-Town RotaNews - May 11, 2005

President Linda rang the bell and John Plate provided the blessing.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Our visiting Rotarian today was none other than frequent visitor Dave Swenson from the Danvers Club.

Make Ups:

No Makeup cards were received today

Fines and Happy Dollars:

John Plate jumped to his post early today as our speakers needed to exit stage left a little early to head to another meeting.

  • Happy dollars flowed as Denver Wallace donated first to John.

  • Ira Singer was happy about the results of the last town meeting which supported the library expansion.

  • Bob Murphy silently donated.

  • Bob Was sat in the front row of town meeting for the last time,

  • Jim Fitzgerald was happy to see the sunshine,

  • Gretchen Marks was happy about hole sponsors efforts.

  • President Elect Peter was happy about time at Rotary, sad about Linda's tax increase and the fact his son is currently participating only in soccer which greatly limits use of the McAllister Taxi Service.

  • Linda Parker was sad about missing Peter's board meeting but happy about watching her grand daughter.

  • Joanne Travers was happy for her son Matthew who completed his first communion.

  • Harry Martin donated as did Jack Leitner.

  • Joe Long was happy about a recent gardening exploit,

  • John Plate was happy about the work done a Camp Rotary.

Raffle:

The eight of clubs remains in the deck and the pot grows to $300.00. Show up next week for your chance to win and buy a hole sponsorship for the 7th Annual Golf Tournament. Checks for the hole sponsors are to be made out to the TBM Rotary Foundation.

Announcements

  • Linda Parker announced that next week is the Club Assembly.

  • We will be meeting May 25th as the Peabody Essex Museum presents.

  • The Golf Tournament is Thursday May 26th. All members are invited to join the golf crowd for lunch. Many attended last year's event and the golfers got a chance to see who is behind the scenes of this important fund raiser.
Lats make this year's Tournament an equally memorable event!

  • The joint meeting with Lynnfield on June 16th has been canceled so we will meet at our regular time on the 15th.

  • Bob Murphy encourages members to attend the Bob Ferm send off party May 25th at the Hardcover in Danvers. Cost is $35 per person.

  • Tuesday evening at the Middleton Town meeting Bob Murphy presented the Citizen of the Year award to Bob Porteous of Middleton. Rumor has it the Murphy went on and on and on. Put a microphone and a TV. camera in front of the guy and he just can't help himself. In all seriousness, Bob, thank you for all you do for the Club and the town.

  • The Golf Tournament, our biggest fund raiser of the year is just around the corner, less than two weeks away.

Volunteers are needed in all departments, sponsor sign ups, marketing, p.r., recruiting golfers, donation collections and more.

Please volunteer your services and let Todd know that you can help.

Sign sponsorships can still be sold. Names of new sponsors especially need to be submitted so that we can get signs made up.

Also plan on enjoying lunch and fellowship with the golfers and your fellow Rotarians.

Program:

Today's speaker Dave Neil of Duke Energy spoke about the up coming project installing and LNG Port offshore from the Beverly coast. The new facility would bring added supply of liquid natural gas into the area in an effort to keep up with demand. Photo by Joanne Travers
