It still needs to be finished, but the walls are up, the rooms are partitioned and the roof is on. This allowed us to begin seeing patients.

The Tri-Town RotaNews - March 30, 2005

I'm just guessing here, cause I was tardy, but President Linda must have brought the meeting to order at 12:15 and Joe Carroll gave the blessing.

Yes I paid the fine too. (Ed.)

Comedy Night April 14th.
Please bring all tickets in next week.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Visitors today included Paul Brigham's guest Lisa Helfant, a Realtor from Coldwell Banker in Topsfield and speaker Janet Stone from NH.

Make Ups:

Gretchen Marks made up at and at .

Fines and Happy Dollars:

John Plate took out his whistle, which he stole from that famous T.V. clown, Willie Whistle, and let the crowd know who was in charge. Silence flowed from the first table of fine and happy dollar donors.

  • Then came Peter McAllister who was happy for his hat trick scoring son. He then paid another dollar for his sleeping in this morning and thinking 8:20 a.m. was really 7:20. Peter showered and shaved and still made it to work in three minutes.

  • Joe Carroll was happy for the great family day on Easter Sunday.

  • Gary Sinclair is happy for his and Jan's second anniversary. Used his own cash too.

  • Jan Sinclair simply threw a buck in the pot.

  • Bob Murphy found a dollar Shirley missed this morning.

  • Gretchen Marks is happy for the weather and paid for her early exit.

  • Joe Long gave a buck to the pot for being late, one just because and one in memory of his grandmother who passed last week. After every visit she'd slide a little boy a dollar so he could get himself an ice cream.

  • Linda Parker had a happy dollar for her grandson who never sleeps.

  • Joanne Travers told of the statistics relating to the decrease in the occurrence of hearing problems in newborn kids in the U.S. but a dramatic increase in the Hispanic population.

  • Harry Martin knows where you live. $2 a week will keep him from your door. IN all seriousness we have a proud record to upkeep in being one of how many 100% Paul Harris clubs in Massachusetts? Know the answer next week and avoid John Plate's axe. Harry had another donation for his grandson story. Seems when the little Martin was helping mom in the kitchen an incident occurred. Not quite 3-year-old William, with mom's help, turned on the blender while mixing ingredients. Startled by the noise he said, "Mommy that makes me nervous". His mom couldn't understand wher he got the expression until she caught herself saying the same thing the next day. Out of the mouths of babes!

  • Janet Larson is happy to be on the ground again.

  • Peter McAllister paid another fine for last weeks missing bulletin. Been there done that.

Announcements

  • Comedy Night April 14th.
    Sell your tickets.

  • Ira Singer reported of his working on getting us a new member from the Bostik Company. Bob Ferm was there for 20 or so years and was a major part of the community. Bob Murphy reported that on May 19th there would be a tribute to Bob night. Net proceeds will be given to charity of Bob's choice.

  • The golf tournament is set for May 26. Look through the list of past sponsors and see whom you know. Think about whom else you might know who could help us out. We need golfers too. Past years we've had 75 plus. We'd love to have 100 plus, the more the merrier. Fliers will be available next week. Get ready to make some calls.

  • Bob Murphy and Dave Twitchell did the North Shore Technical High School RYLA interviews and are on the slate to go to Masco. Bob reports a great slate of kids for this year and worries how to choose.

Program:

Today's speaker Janet Stone told of her personal experience with Alzheimer's disease had how she and her Dad coped with the disease. It was a very touching discussion as I am sure many of us can relate to her feelings. She viewed the disease a "rearrangement of my fathers soul." Janet Stone
