The Tri-Town RotaNews - February 2, 2005

President Linda brought the meeting to order in fine fashion. A quiet meeting altogether.

We were all quite happy to see Dave Twitchell in our midst. Dave told us a bit about his recent health issues, and how happy he was to be with us.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Jan Sinclair's guest on this quiet day was Adam Scott, and President Linda's guest was Mark Liqui.

We were also visited by Mike Spanos of the Beverly Club.

Make Ups:

Gretchen Marks made up at on January 26,

and at on January 19.

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Even John Plate had a difficult time getting people to talk as dollars flowed into his hands.

Todd Tells Some Fish Tales

The speaker extraordinaire today was none out than our own Todd "Gad-a-bout" Darling who told fish stories and whale tales. It's amazing what can be done with photo refinishing. Todd, a reformed bobber fisherman, turned fly fisher around the age of 16 and has been hooked ever since.

In all seriousness people, Todd has something here that really too few people know about. Fly fishing is the most technical of all the fishing styles yet once you figure out the basics it can be the most rewarding and relaxing experience you've ever experienced in your life.

Todd travels to fly fishing destinations include both fresh and salt water haunts. I for one have had the pleasure of joining Mr. Darling off of Nantucket last summer. The experience turned me into a saltwater fly fishing fanatic. There is nothing like having a beautiful sunny day, salt spray in you face and a big bluefish or striped bass stripping line from your reel.

Todd's true love, sorry Marla, is fishing the flats in Florida, tarpon, permits and bonefish.

Next summer, look to the east off Beverly and you'll see Capt'n Todd skippering his boat in and among the rocks in search of that 40 inch bass.
