The bell tolled at 12:15 sharp and President Linda began the meeting. John Plate was kind enough to bless the meeting.

 

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Bob Murphy invited his grandson Matt Charette to today' meeting. A proud grandfather introduced Matt as a "Goaltender from the Granite State".

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Is there a Doctor in the house? Seems our feared Sergeant at Arms is hearing voices!!

Harry Martin pulled two dollars from his wallet for...well you know.

Joanne Travers is still pedaling the Partners for a Greater Voice cookbook. And yes Gretchen's recipe is in the book. Gretchen will be available at the next meeting for the book signing.

Gary Sinclair found 2 bucks on the floor and paid Spencer.

Ira Singer was happy and so was Gretchen for her chance at stardom.

Todd Darling found some change too!!

Chris Kourkoulis just returned from an African Safari.

Bob Lucinski is feeling much better thank you, paid $2 for being late and $2 because he has been surgically improved.

Bob Murphy was happy to have his grandson in our presence today.

President Linda is happy to come away from a wedding weekend with the shirt still on her back. So happy she threw a fiver into the pot.

No winners again. Jim Fitzgerald, for a change had his number drawn first and Oscar was lucky enough to get picked second. The 7 of clubs still remains unfound.

  • President Linda attended the first North Shore Friends Forever meeting last night. There is an effort to start a NS chapter in support of this great organization. Linda will be hosting a child in her house during their visit from Ireland. Anyone interested in getting involved please let Linda know.

  • Next Saturday for 8 to 1 there is a walk to support the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association at Bradley Palmer in Topsfield. Call Linda for more info. It would be great to get a group of us over there to help such a great cause. Wear your Rotary shirt and show our stuff.

  • Ira Snger has sign up sheets for the Topsfield Fair. Friday October 1 and Saturday October 2nd we will be selling raffle tickets for the road race fundraiser.

 

Program:

Today's speaker was Sam Clease from the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission. He spoke about the MPAC "Vision Across Town Boundaries, North Shore Growth and Planning Trends.

They look at everything from population changes, land and water use, open space, traffic flows, housing and economic development in an effort to provide information the cities and towns of our region. These reports can be used to help communities plan their own futures as they tie relate to all their neighbors. The group typically meets the second Thursday of each month from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Gordon Room at the Danvers Public Library. Selectmen, planning board members, town administrators and general public with an interest in our communities are all invited. For more information please go to www.metrofuture.org.

September 18 is the Boxford Apple Festival; we're looking for Boxford members to help out with the booth. This is a great way to spread the Rotary word in our community.

October 17: Fall Foliage Classic Road Race

October 28: Golf at Ferncroft! $85 pp

February 23: Tentative date for a joint meeting with the Beverly Club.

June 18-22, 2005: Rotary Centennial Celebration in Chicago - where it all begin! Register early!
