President Linda rang the bell and John Plate provided the blessing for the day.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:

Eden's Mom came with Eden in spite of the way he dressed.

Hi Der Bogosian from Haverhill, Mike Spanos from Beverly, Eden's Mom, Rita, Matts and Anita Vighh, District Governor Donna Dagostino and AG Bruce Whear were all visiting today.

Make Ups:

Bob Luscinski made up at Greater Georgetown (Tuesday at 7:30 am), Danvers (Monday at 12:15 pm), and Peabody (Tuesday at 12:15 pm)

Fines and Happy Dollars:

Our famed Sargent at Arms, John Plate wielded Spencer around the room. Once again it was time to pay the piper. Matts Viggh may have paid his last fine at TBM as he and Anita are heading to the South Shore in the near future. Bill Shannon is celebrating the arrival of his sixth grandchild!! Eden Hutt lightened his wallet to express his happiness for his Mom attending today and for his rather casual attire, what a slob. Joanne Travers is promoting the first annual Partner's for a Greater Voice Cookbook. You can get yours before they hit the shelves for $10.00. The sales will benefit the PGV efforts. Bob Was paid for Harry's e-mail story. Linda Parker paid fifty cents for criticizing our Sergeant at Arms and another fifty cents for who knows what. Gary Sinclair was a pin less individual today. Jan Sinclair gave a happy dollar for a beautiful sail. District Governor Donna Dagostino gave $5 for a great Board of Directors meeting. Jack Leitner confessed to a silent ringing of the cell phone. Ira Singer's weekly giving included $2 towards the Foundation...and Harry Martin smiled. Oscar Padgen, starring blankly into space like a kid in 5th grade thinking, "If I don't make eye contact the teacher will near call on me". John snatched a dollar from Oscar's wallet anyway. Frank Martino, back from his trip to the Mediterranean, threw a fist full of dollars into the pot. Hi Der Bogosian provided funds for Gretchen Mark's kindness and more to hear Harry's e-mail joke. Gretchen gave happy and sad dollars for her recipe that may or may not have made the Partners for a Greater Voice Cookbook. Guests what Harry's 2 bucks were for? If you can't answer that one, John will let you know next week!! Joe Long provided funds for a ringing of the cell phone and for thanks to his bride Julia for delivering the cake for todays special occasion. Mike Spanos was happy about golfing and fishing. My how the cash flows when the DG arrives. Great job everyone!!

Dave "Memento" Twitchell made a heart felt presentation to Mats Viggh for his years of service to the TBM Club. Mats and Anita are heading for the South Shore in the not so distant future. Stories of Mats' extreme organization and fund raising ability with the emphasis on "fun" where heard by many of the newer members for the first time. Best of luck to the both of you!!

Program:

Bruce Whear, our AG, introduced the District Governor for district 7930, 2004-2005, Donna Dagostino. Donna focused on the RI theme for the Centennial year "Celebrate Rotary". How will you celebrate Rotary? Sharing our experiences and attending community gatherings were two answers provided.

Goals for RI this year include;

1. Nurture the concept of "The Family of Rotary". Include family, friends and guests as part of our weekly meetings, our functions and our community service projects. Concentrate not only on membership growth but also retention. Get each and every member involved. Support GSE, Youth Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholars, and Interact.

2. Support Health Initiatives. The District is sponsoring another Rotaplast Mission on September 8, 2004 to Venezuela. Literacy is an issue as 1 out of 3 people in the world cannot read or write. Our Dictionary project headed by Bob Murphy is headed in the right direction. Water Management is of key importance and our efforts to aid in the Ipswich River clean up focuses on helping provide clean water in our own area.

President Linda expresses concern that she will be able to meet her membership commitments
while Governor Donna assures her that she can.

Other Goals include continued support for the eradication of polio. To date we have helped reduce the number of cases by 99% since 1985.Increasing membership by 2% worldwide. TBM needs to net 2 new members to help in this challenge. The Foundation hopes for every Rotarian, every year to continue it's great work.

Governor Donna has secured local grant monies in excess of $17,000. $10,000 will be earmarked to support a local peace scholar. We have a GSE coming to the area from Italy and we'll be sending a team there as well. Both teams will be at the District Conference May 12-15 at The Sagamore, Lake George NY.

We should be proud of your PHF status. On February 24 there will be a Foundation dinner held at Anthony's Pier Four at which 100 new PHF will be named from the District.

Governor Donna will be running in the Chicago 5k Road Race and she is seeking sponsors to help raise funds for the foundation. The suggestion that October 17th Fall Foliage Classic would be a good warm up was made...Donna will we see you there.

Upcoming Programs:

October 6: Lunch at the Topsfield Fair!
